Your tasks

At the Institute of Polymer Nanotechnology (INKA), we shape the future of innovative materials. Drawing on our expertise in polymer engineering and nanotechnology, we develop sustainable, high-performance solutions to meet tomorrow’s challenges, working closely with partners from both academia and industry.

As a Scientific Associate in Resorbable Polymers, you will work on a variety of scientific and application-oriented projects for our industry partner, who provides substantial funding for this position.

  • Development of new resorbable polymers for applications in coatings and medical devices
  • Polymer synthesis and characterization, as well as processing through fiber spinning and electrospinning
  • Biomedical application development, including surgical sutures, tissue engineering, and medical textiles
  • Scientific publishing, patent activities, market analysis and development, as well as prototype validation
  • Supervision of Bachelor's and Master's students within research projects and occasional responsibility for laboratory equipment

Your profile

  • Master's degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Textile Engineering, or a related field, ideally complemented by a PhD in the area of resorbable polymers
  • Proven experience in the synthesis and processing of resorbable polymers, fiber spinning, and polymer characterization is essential; experience with injection molding would be an advantage
  • Hands-on laboratory experience is required; industry experience in the relevant field is highly desirable
  • Excellent English skills for project-related communication are essential; German language skills are an advantage
  • High level of self-motivation, an independent working style, strong teamwork skills, and an open-minded personality are indispensable for working in a scientifically stimulating and application-oriented environment

This position is initially offered on a two-year fixed-term contract.
