For full-time teaching and research activities in the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in MultiMediaArt and Realtime Arts & Visual Effects at the Department of Creative Technologies, we invite applications for the following position:
Head of Academic Area Game & Mixed Reality (f/m/x) / Senior Lecturer (f/m/x) Tasks: 1. Responsibilities of the Head of Academic Area
Coordinating all courses as well as internal and external faculty members in the division in close and constructive collaboration with the program directors
Planning and organizing staff assignments within the division in coordination with the department head, program directors, and the Head of Research
Implementing the division’s quality objectives in teaching, particularly by optimizing and evaluating teaching and supporting program directors in optimizing teaching quality
Subject-specific collaboration on updating and further developing the curricula for degree programs and courses offered by the department (including, where applicable, across departments)
Promotion of interdisciplinarity
Supporting the positioning of degree programs within the department and contributing to marketing activities for the degree programs
2. Responsibilities of the Senior Lecturer (f/m/x):
Teaching foundational and advanced courses in Software/Game Development and Mixed Reality within the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in Code and Interactive Systems, totaling up to 16 SWS (including teaching in English)
Collaborating in the coordination and development of courses and course materials in the Game and Mixed Reality division
Supervising academic theses and student projects
Participation in the acquisition and implementation of (research) projects within the degree program
Academic and organizational support for the degree program, as well as contributing to the qualitative development of the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs
Developing and maintaining corporate and industry contacts (collaborations, projects, internships)
Profile:
Completed university degree (Diploma, Master’s) in computer science. A Ph.D. in a relevant field is preferred
Relevant practical experience and in-depth knowledge in several of the following areas:
Game development: game development, game engines, tools, and workflows
Programming: object-oriented programming in C# or C++, engine scripting, gameplay programming
Graphics: Computer graphics (e.g., OpenGL, Vulkan, CUDA), neural rendering, Gaussian splatting
Game Design: Mechanics, balancing, level design, experience design
Generative AI, VR/AR/MR: (Generative) AI for interactive systems/games, virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality
At least 3 years of relevant professional experience outside the academic sector (at least 50% full-time equivalent over three years) since earning a college degree
Several years of teaching experience at the university level
Research experience and publications are a plus
Pedagogical and didactic competence
Excellent practical skills and the ability to collaborate on multidisciplinary projects
Excellent German and English language skills
Sensitivity and mindfulness in dealing with diversity
Strong communication and social skills
