About the Role:
As the Director Future Communities , you are an experienced and progressive leader, with a passion for driving transformative initiatives and enhancing stakeholder and community engagement. Your future-focused leadership will inspire our diverse teams who are passionate about fostering pride and engagement within the community, delivering excellent community outcomes.
The Future Communities Directorate includes leadership of the following three departments:
- Community, Customer and Visitor
- Community Health & Safety
- Planning & Building Services
As an integral member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will:
- Champion organisational performance improvement and drive a culture of ethics, integrity, and good governance.
- Provide authentic, values-driven leadership that builds innovation, courage and engagement across Council.
- Develop and lead our high-performing, customer-focused teams whilst nurturing future leaders.
- Advocate for the portfolio at an executive level to achieve community-focused outcomes.
- Lead change with creativity, respect, and inclusivity to build an effective, diverse workforce.
- Contribute strategically to the Executive Leadership Team through collaboration and knowledge sharing.
About You:
To support your success in this role you will have:
- A proven track record as a transformational leader, in leading multi-disciplinary teams and driving strategic approaches to customer-centric responses.
- Experience at a senior management level in leading staff, planning work, making technical decisions, and optimising resource allocation.
- Strategic financial planning capabilities for long-term economic sustainability.
- Values-based, ethical leadership that empowers teams.
- Strong economic and community development expertise with proven success in partnerships.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills which enable you to build strong relationships and resolve complex problems effectively.
- Proven experience in managing complex, multilayered and confidential issues.
- The proven ability to communicate vision and direction with clarity, bringing an exceptional focus on community and customer.
- You are committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and child safety.
Relevant tertiary qualifications and demonstrable senior leadership experience in a large, complex and multi-faceted organisation is required. A sound understanding of the political nuances involved in a local government context is also necessary.
