Ensure the use of the HPC platform (CSCS) for MeteoSchweiz applications and drive forward its further development in collaboration with internal and external partners.
Identify and prioritise requirements arising from operations, research and development, represent these to the CSCS, and coordinate improvements in performance, stability and scalability.
Develop components of the numerical weather prediction systems and the associated workflow and data infrastructure, and adapt them to new technological requirements.
Support and advise scientists in the areas of software development, HPC utilisation and operations.
Ensure the reliable operation of business‑critical production systems (including best‑effort interventions and third‑level support).
This makes you unique
A Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Computational Science or a related field.
Several years' practical experience in software engineering, preferably with Python and modern software development practices, as well as cloud‑native architecture.
Experience in the operation and further development of high‑performance computing environments, as well as complex data and software workflows.
Ability to gather and prioritise technical requirements from various stakeholders and implement them in collaboration with internal and external partners.
Good knowledge of at least two official languages as well as English.
In a nutshell As part of an agile and motivated team, you will play a key role in managing the CSCS infrastructure platform for MeteoSwiss. Together with internal and external partners, you will ensure the reliable and efficient operation of the platform, coordinate operational and development requirements with the CSCS, and contribute to the further development of the production systems and software components used in numerical weather forecasting. As part of the operations team, you will also be involved in the operation and monitoring of business‑critical production systems.
