Position
Junior Research Group Leader (m/f/x) in Human‑Robot Interaction (HRI) at the Faculty of Computer Science, Institute of Software and Multimedia Technology, Chair of Multimedia Technology, TU Dresden. The position is part of the Cluster of Excellence “Centre for Tactile Internet with Human‑in‑the‑Loop” (CeTI) and is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). The role will be filled on a fixed‑term basis (2 years), with an earliest possible start date. Compensation follows salary group E 14 TV‑L.
Responsibilities
- Establish and lead an independent junior research group.
- Define and implement the research strategy, including conception, coordination, development, and execution of a comprehensive plan within the HRI research area.
- Conduct independent, cutting‑edge research in HRI with a clear computer‑science focus.
- Acquire and manage national and international third‑party funded projects.
- Supervise early‑stage researchers in computer‑science‑related topics.
- Publish research results in high‑ranking, internationally recognized conferences and journals.
- Present research findings at international conferences.
- Engage in active interdisciplinary collaboration with other CeTI researchers and with institutes in the Faculty of Computer Science.
Requirements
- University degree in computer science or a closely related field.
- PhD in computer science or a closely related discipline.
- Strong international publication record in HRI, including (but not limited to):
- Interaction with humanoid robots and their applications;
- HRI in routine tasks and everyday environments (haptic interaction in industry, manufacturing, gastronomy, education, healthcare, or surgery);
- Human control of and interaction with autonomous mobility systems;
- HRI in immersive and remote environments (tele‑presence with robot avatars, tele‑robotics, tele‑cobotics, maintenance and hazardous scenarios, remote areas such as earth, air, space);
- Social interaction, emotionality, understanding, and empathy in human‑robot collaboration (care, entertainment, social media in the metaverse);
- Qualitative and quantitative empirical studies analyzing usability and user experience in HRI.
- Experience in supervising research teams and mentoring early‑stage researchers.
