About The Role

We are seeking a Full Stack Java Developer (m/w/d) to join our dynamic team at our Bremen location.

This role is ideal for a seasoned software professional who is passionate about maintaining and evolving mission-critical systems within the port logistics domain.

As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will be responsible for the long-term support, technical stabilization, and incremental modernization of an essential Java-based application.

You will work closely with other developers, quality assurance teams, and the Product Owner to enhance system reliability, improve architecture, and implement innovative solutions that align with our strategic goals.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a relevant educational background, such as a completed apprenticeship as an IT specialist for application development, a degree in computer science, or an equivalent qualification.

You should have several years of professional experience in Java software development, demonstrating a strong understanding of enterprise application architecture.

A keen willingness to deepen domain knowledge in logistics and rail transportation is essential.

Proven experience in maintaining, stabilizing, and evolving complex legacy systems is required, along with expertise in test-driven development and writing maintainable, high-quality code.

Familiarity with KI‑augmented development tools, as well as proficiency with Maven, Git, Jenkins, and Git Lab, is expected.

Knowledge of Spring Boot, React, and Docker is advantageous.

Fluency in German at minimum C1 level and good English skills are also necessary to succeed in this role.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and continuously develop a mission-critical Java-based system integral to port logistics operations.
• Ensure system stability through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Implement incremental architecture improvements, transitioning towards a modular monolith architecture while considering existing technology stacks.
• Utilize proprietary Java frameworks alongside open-source libraries, adhering to established Jakarta standards such as JPA.
• Analyze existing system structures, identify improvement opportunities, and implement pragmatic, sustainable solutions.
• Participate actively in architectural and technological decision‑making processes, contributing innovative ideas and best practices.
• Guarantee high software quality through test‑driven development, pair programming, and comprehensive code reviews.
• Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams including development, quality assurance, and product management within an agile framework.
• Engage in ongoing learning to stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and domain‑specific knowledge in logistics and transportation.
