Help build the technology behind the European Digital Identity Wallet - one of Europe’s most significant new digital initiatives.
We’re supporting an established German technology company that’s looking for a Software Engineer to build modern Android applications and backend services for major digitalisation projects.
One of the flagship projects involves the new European Digital Identity Wallet, enabling EU citizens to securely use their national identity digitally from their smartphone.
- Work on the European Digital Identity Wallet and other large-scale digital products
- Build both Android applications and modern backend services
- Work alongside experienced senior engineers with a strong focus on software quality
- Varied projects across major organisations and industries
- Excellent training, internal knowledge sharing, hackathons and technical meetups
- Flexible working with generally around one office day per week
- Established, stable technology company with short decision-making processes
What you’ll do
- Develop modern Android applications and backend services
- Build backend functionality primarily using Java/Kotlin and Spring Boot
- Work across the complete software lifecycle from implementation through to production
- Collaborate within experienced, cross-functional agile engineering teams
- Contribute to different products and technologies as projects evolve
- Maintain a strong focus on clean, high-quality software
What you should bring
- Good backend development experience, ideally with Java/Kotlin and Spring Boot
- Comfortable contributing across both mobile and backend development
- Fluent German (C1+)
You’ll join a highly experienced engineering environment where people are encouraged to learn new technologies, take ownership and develop their technical careers rather than being confined to one narrow specialism.
