About the Role
The Associate position within the Technology & Operations Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team at BlackRock plays a crucial role in facilitating financial governance and oversight. The FP&A team supports both the Aladdin operating system—as a central tool for managing investment portfolios—and Technology & Operations, which is responsible for the efficient functioning of worldwide operations involving diverse asset classes. This role involves collaboration with the Enterprise Services team and other finance stakeholders to provide detailed cost reporting, forecasting, and performance analysis. The individual in this position will leverage their strong analytical skills to engage in disciplined financial management and ensure that financial targets are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Enterprise Services teams to produce accurate expense forecasts, assess assumptions, and communicate risks and opportunities.
- Develop and refine scalable financial forecasting models to adapt to evolving business requirements.
- Utilize advanced Excel and analytics tools, including automation and AI, to enhance workflow efficiency and the quality of financial insights.
- Present financial outcomes and narratives clearly to senior management, ensuring actionable insights are communicated effectively.
- Work across teams to ensure consistency between provider performance metrics, strategic initiatives, and new developments.
- Identify and implement improvements in monthly forecasting and reporting processes to reduce manual effort.
- Take part in team projects related to financial modeling and strategic finance initiatives to generate valuable insights.
- Coordinate with other finance teams, including Controllers and Vendor Management, on critical deliverables and initiatives.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree with at least a 2:1 classification.
- Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
- Strong attention to detail for maintaining high accuracy.
- Proficient in building and maintaining robust financial models, with a solid understanding of data structures and drivers-based modeling.
- Ability to utilize technology and AI tools to improve financial processes and data access.
- Self-starter with problem anticipation skills, able to thrive in fast-paced environments.
- Strong organizational, planning, and quantitative problem-solving capabilities.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and analytical tools, with experience in managing complex datasets.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with adept interpersonal abilities.
- Knowledgeable in accounting and pricing principles.
