Director – Private Debt Fund

Our client is a private debt investment firm currently raising a €200 million fund, targeting mid-market direct lending and structured credit opportunities in Germany and Europe. The firm focuses on sponsor-backed leveraged finance transactions, distressed debt, and special situations investments.

As the fund continues to scale, they are seeking an experienced Director to take a leadership role in deal origination, investment execution, and portfolio management. This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of the European private debt market with significant autonomy and impact.

Key Responsibilities:

• Origination: Proactively source and originate direct lending and private debt investment opportunities.
• Investment Execution: Lead financial analysis, credit underwriting, structuring, and negotiations for new transactions.
• Due Diligence: Oversee financial, commercial, and legal due diligence processes for potential investments.
• Portfolio Management: Monitor existing investments, assess credit risks, and engage with company management teams to drive value creation.
• Market Strategy: Develop insights into the European leveraged finance and private credit markets to refine investment strategy.
• Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with private equity sponsors, banks, advisors, and co-investors.
• Leadership: Mentor and manage junior team members, contributing to the firm’s long-term growth.

Candidate Profile:

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field; an MBA or CFA is a plus.
• Experience: 7+ years of experience in leveraged finance, private credit, direct lending, or special situations investing, ideally within a private debt fund, investment bank, or credit-focused asset manager.
• Language Skills: Fluent German and English (both written and spoken) are essential.
• Technical Expertise: Strong LBO modeling, credit structuring, and legal documentation experience.
• Leadership & Origination: Proven track record in sourcing and executing private debt transactions.
