Flynn & Chase is working with an independent private equity investor near Frankfurt that has been backing German Mittelstand companies for more than 15 years. They focus on succession deals, shareholder changes, carve-outs and growth financing in businesses with roughly €10–100m revenue across the DACH region, and have built a portfolio of 10+ companies.
What makes them different: no rush to exit. They can stay invested well beyond the usual five-year fund cycle and work closely with founders and management to build the business.
The role
You will join a small, senior deal team as Investment Manager and work on the full cycle: origination, execution, portfolio work and exits. Lots of contact with owners and management, real say in investment decisions.
What you'll do
- Source and screen new deals, including direct contact with family owners and M&A advisers
- Build LBO models and valuations, and structure the financing with banks
- Run due diligence and manage legal, financial and commercial advisers
- Write investment papers and present to the investment committee
- Negotiate SPAs and shareholder agreements together with the partners
- Work hands-on with portfolio companies on value creation, add-ons and exits
What we're looking for
- 5 to 7 years of hands-on deal experience in small or mid-market private equity (internships don't count)
- Ideally a background in M&A, transaction services or consulting before that
- Strong LBO modelling and a few closed deals you can walk us through
- Fluent German and good English
- Entrepreneurial, hands-on, comfortable dealing with founders
What's on offer
- Short decision paths and a lot of responsibility early on
- A stable, long-term investor with a strong track record in the Mittelstand
