The Role
We are seeking a Controls Engineer (m/f/d) to work on the local controller that runs at the heart of our customers' power plants. You will design and build the control logic that keeps solar, BESS, and thermal generation assets operating safely and efficiently. A passion for the energy transition and interest in physical systems behind the code is highly valued.
Tasks
What You'll Do:
- Design and maintain control algorithms for our Rust-based controller.
- Translate control theory and power grid compliance requirements into clean, well-tested code.
- Collaborate on the development of control algorithms for power distribution, anomaly detection, error handling and electric/thermal/economic optimization.
- Collaborate with engineers to validate controller behavior against real-world conditions.
- Build software interfaces to communicate directly with plant hardware via protocols like Modbus, CAN, and M-Bus.
- Support commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of controllers.
Requirements
What You Bring:
- Experience in Rust, or strong proficiency in another systems language such as C/C++.
- Comfort with concurrent, real-time, programming close to the hardware layer.
- Knowledge of, or strong curiosity about control systems or power systems.
- Clear, proactive communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience with industrial protocols (Modbus, CAN, M-Bus).
- Background in power systems, solar assets, battery energy storage systems (BESS) or similar.
Benefits
- Future-Proof Career: Gain deep knowledge of the fast growing renewable energy sector and accelerate the global energy transition.
- High Autonomy: Work independently in a top-performing, diverse team with fast decisions and minimal bureaucracy.
- Early-Stage Equity: Receive company equity and have abundant opportunities for personal development
- Flexibility: Central Berlin office with hybrid remote options and flexible working hours.
