Job Summary
We are looking for a board-certified Physician to join our team at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center
(LRMC) — the largest American military hospital outside the United States and a referral center of record for
U.S. forces across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Join a physician team with a global reputation for
excellence, providing comprehensive medical care to infants, children, adolescents, and young adults within a
well-established military medical community.
You will be providing a full range of physician services at the Military Treatment Facility (MTF), including preventive care, diagnosis and treatment, and support for occupational and operational medicine programs. Works within scope of clinical privileges granted by the MTF and adheres to Government and professional clinical standards.
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Degree
- Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from an LCME-approved medical school, or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) from an AOA-approved school of osteopathic medicine, or a degree from a school acceptable to the Surgeon General
- Degree must be from a school accredited by a recognized U.S. or Canadian accrediting body at the time the degree was obtained (e.g., LCME, AOA/COCA, RCPSC, CFPC)
- Foreign medical degrees must demonstrate equivalency via ECFMG certification, a Fifth Pathway certificate, or successful completion of the USMLE
Certification & Licensure
- Board certified as required in the Task Order (TO)
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine as required in the TO
Internship/Residency
- Successful completion of an ACGME- or AOA-Committee on Postdoctoral Training-approved internship and residency program in the required specialty
- Minimum of 1 year of supervised clinical experience post-degree (internship year or first year of residency) in an accredited hospital or institution
Experience
- Must meet clinical competency requirements per Service-specific credentialing instructions
- Minimum 12 months of experience in occupational medicine or flight/operational medicine within the past 36 months
Core Duties
- Perform the full range of physician services within MTF-granted privileges
- Examine, diagnose, treat, and prescribe treatment within scope of training and privileges
- Provide preventive care and health maintenance, including annual physicals, health education, and counseling
- Order diagnostic tests and initiate consultations/referrals as needed
- Provide clinical guidance and training to other medical staff, including educational lectures and in-service training
- Support Deployment Related Health Assessments (DRHA) and/or Base Operational Medicine Clinic (BOMC) functions, including:
- Pre-placement and occupational surveillance hearing exams
- Pre/post-deployment health assessments
- Fitness for duty and fitness/risk evaluations
- Tuberculosis management
- Bloodborne pathogen and needlestick response
- Periodic and mental health assessments
- Military accessions, separation, and retirement exams
- Medical clearances and health questionnaire reviews
- Perform cross-over duties as mutually agreed and approved by the Contracting Officer/COR when required to meet workload needs
- Contribute to peer review processes as requested by Flight leadership
