Senior Backend Engineer (Media Delivery) in Biel

Overview In this role, you will help design, build, and operate Frontify’s media delivery path, ensuring fast and cost-efficient processing for images and videos at scale. You’ll contribute to a cross-functional team responsible for media transformation, Kubernetes-based services, and a robust CDN/cache layer. You’ll tackle challenges in bulk processing, autoscaling, and performance optimization to absorb traffic spikes without impacting other customers. This is a hands-on, production-focused role with impact on how brands are delivered in the age of AI. You’ll work alongside engineers to shape scalable infrastructure and reliable media pipelines that power global assets. Design, deploy, and operate services on Kubernetes (EKS) with Helm charts, deployments, and alerts; simplify complex systems. Build and maintain async bulk-processing capabilities with job queues, autoscaling for spikes, and fair usage across customers. Collaborate with caching and CDN layers (Varnish, HAProxy, CloudFront) to keep delivery fast and cost-efficient. Contribute to documentation, runbooks, and design decisions to capture knowledge across the team. Zentrale Anforderungen Experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend and background processing services (Node.js, TypeScript, Go, or similar). Production operation of services on Kubernetes with Helm, monitoring, and live debugging. Solid AWS architecture experience focusing on S3, CloudFront, Lambda, and ALB at scale, including performance and cost optimization. Comfort with Docker and Linux; ability to read/Debug C++ when necessary. Experience with media pipelines (FFmpeg, codecs, image/video processing), with HDR/video expertise as a plus.
