The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Freelance PLC Programmer / Commissioning Engineer to support a major warehouse automation and intralogistics project in Germany.
The project involves highly automated material-handling systems, including conveyors, sortation, AMRs, robotic/cobot applications and warehouse control systems.
This is a hands-on role covering PLC programming, equipment integration, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting and go-live support.
- Develop and modify Siemens PLC software using TIA Portal
- Commission and troubleshoot automated warehouse systems
- Support integration of conveyors, sorters, material-handling equipment and AMRs
- Develop equipment and robot interfaces / handshakes
- Configure and troubleshoot HMI / diagnostics
- Execute FAT, SAT, I/O and functional testing
- Support site startup, production ramp-up and go-live
- Troubleshoot PLC, network, sensor and equipment issues
- Work closely with electrical, mechanical, robotics and WCS teams
- Support customer acceptance and technical handover
What We're Looking For
- Strong S7-1500 experience
- S7-1200 / WinCC experience
- Experience with distributed I/O
- Programming knowledge in ST, LAD and/or FBD
- Strong hands-on commissioning and troubleshooting experience
- Experience with FAT / SAT / site startup
- Ability to work independently on customer sites
Experience in one or more of the following:
- Intralogistics
- Warehouse automation
- Manufacturing logistics
Experience with conveyors, sortation, pallet transport, AS/RS, shuttle systems or material-flow systems is highly relevant.
Nice to Have
- AMR integration — MiR, Geek+, Locus, Omron, ForwardX or similar
- Robotics / cobots
- Siemens Safety PLC
- Beckhoff TwinCAT
- WCS / WMS interfaces
- AS/RS
- Shuttle systems
- AutoStore
AMR experience is highly desirable but not mandatory — strong Siemens PLC + intralogistics + commissioning experience is the priority.
This is a hands-on commissioning role. Regular travel to customer/project sites within Germany is expected, particularly during commissioning and go-live phases.
Right to Work: Candidates must have valid EU/German work authorization and be legally able to undertake freelance work in Germany. Visa sponsorship is not available for this project.
