We're currently searching for a key position for one of our main clients, to assume the role of Head of Procurement for a multinational compressor OEM.
Our client have worked with some of the most established end-users in the across the Marine, Hydrogen and LNG sectors, and the Managing Director has the target to triple the companies revenue by 2030.
He has asked us to assist with one of the most important positions to achieve this target.
The role involves reporting directly to him, accompanied with a huge level of autonomy, allowing the individual to develop key relationships and partnerships however they see fit.
Head of Procurement
The Head of Procurement will be responsible for developing and implementing the company's procurement strategy, managing supplier relationships, driving cost efficiencies, and ensuring material availability across the business.
This role will play a key part in supporting operational excellence, improving supplier performance, reducing risk within the supply chain, and contributing to overall business growth.
The successful candidate will lead a procurement team and work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Finance, and Sales to develop strategic sourcing initiatives and optimise supply chain performance.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a procurement strategy aligned with business objectives.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the procurement team to achieve departmental goals.
- Establish procurement policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Deliver continuous improvement initiatives across sourcing and supplier management activities.
- Support organisational growth through proactive supplier and market development.
- Identify, evaluate, negotiate, and manage strategic supplier relationships.
- Develop long-term partnerships with key suppliers of compressor components, fabricated parts, castings, motors, valves, instrumentation, electrical components, and ancillary equipment.
- Conduct regular supplier performance reviews, focusing on quality, cost, delivery, and innovation.
- Implement supplier development programmes to improve performance and reduce risk.
- Manage supplier contracts and ensure compliance with agreed terms.
- Lead commercial negotiations to achieve best value while maintaining quality and service standards.
- Identify and deliver cost-saving initiatives through strategic sourcing and value engineering.
- Develop and maintain procurement budgets and KPI reporting structures.
- Work closely with planning and operations teams to ensure material availability and minimise production disruptions.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience in a senior procurement leadership role within manufacturing, engineering, industrial equipment, or related sectors.
- Strong understanding of strategic sourcing, category management, and supplier relationship management.
- Experience managing complex supplier networks and global supply chains.
- Demonstrated success in delivering significant cost savings and procurement improvements.
- Excellent commercial negotiation and contract management skills.
- Strong leadership and team development experience.
- Ability to analyse data and make informed commercial decisions.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Desirable industry experience
- Experience within compressor manufacturing, rotating equipment, pumps, industrial machinery, or heavy engineering sectors.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering components.
- CIPS Level 5 or Level 6 qualification.
- Experience managing international suppliers across Europe, Asia, and North America.
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, IFS, or Microsoft Dynamics.
