Senior Tunnelling Supervisor/Technician - Southern Switzerland - Major Infrastructure Projects - Highly Attractive Salary & Package - Italian & English-speaking We are looking for an experienced engineer to join the office in Southern Switzerland.
The successful candidate will initially join a Technical Office function, supporting the preparation of technical and commercial tenders for underground infrastructure projects, including both new tunnel construction and refurbishment works.
It involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of engineers, estimators, and technical specialists, contributing to the development of high‑quality, competitive bids.
This position sits within a function that is being strengthened with a strong operational focus, ensuring that technical expertise is directly applicable to real‑world project delivery.
Following the award of projects, there is the opportunity to transition into the execution phase, with involvement in on‑site delivery. Over time, Technical Office professionals are expected to support projects across their full lifecycle, ensuring continuity between tendering and construction.
Responsibilities
Review and analyse tender documentation (specifications, drawings, quantities, and schedules)
Support the development of technical and commercial bid strategies
Prepare cost estimates, project timelines, and resource plans
Evaluate technical feasibility and identify risks, opportunities, and alternative solutions
Contribute to method statements and value engineering proposals
Prepare supporting technical documentation and drawings
Coordinate with external consultants, suppliers, and subject‑matter experts
Support the development of project references and supporting material for bids
Execution Phase - Project Delivery Scope depending on experience and seniority
Support planning and coordination of site activities
Assist in implementing solutions defined during the tender phase
Provide technical support to project and site management teams
Monitor technical execution and manage project documentation
Act as a technical interface between internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders
Key Requirements
Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
Practical, hands‑on experience in tunnelling or underground construction projects
Exposure to conventional excavation and/or TBM methods
Minimum 2–3 years of experience in:
Tender preparation and/or
Delivery of underground infrastructure projects
Strong ability to interpret:
Technical specifications
Bills of quantities
Engineering drawings and plans
Costing and technical documentation
Proven experience in preparing technical documentation and tender material
Operational mindset, with on‑site exposure (not purely design‑focused)
Flexibility to travel depending on project requirements
Strong organisational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
Languages
German : highly desirable
