What to expect
The SAP FICO Subject Matter Expert (SME) will serve as the internal expert for Finance and Controlling (FICO) processes within the SAP environment for Gates EMEA. This role is responsible for maintaining the FICO process template, guiding and developing local SMEs and Power Users (PUs), and driving continuous improvement within the assigned process area. The ideal candidate combines deep SAP FICO expertise with strong collaboration skills to ensure regional business process alignment, standardization, and excellence.
The role can be based in one of our locations: Wrocław (Poland), Ghent (Belgium), Aachen (Germany), or Balsareny (Spain). We are looking for a candidate who is open to being based at one of these locations.
- Act as the internal expert and primary contact for SAP FICO‑related processes and functionalities.
- Maintain and update the FICO process template to ensure it reflects best practices and aligns with business requirements.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to local SMEs and PUs to strengthen process knowledge and execution capabilities.
- Propose and evaluate improvements to the FICO process template, focusing on efficiency, standardization, and business impact.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless integration of FICO processes across other process areas.
- Be prepared to actively participate or be consulted on other regional rollouts of the SAP template, either as lead SME or supporting local SMEs.
- Support testing, validation, and deployment of SAP process enhancements and system changes.Contribute to documentation and knowledge‑sharing initiatives to ensure consistent understanding of FICO processes across the organization.
- Serve as a key contributor to projects involving SAP FICO modules or related business transformations.

Requirements and Preferred Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of experience working with SAP FICO modules, ideally in a regional or multi‑site environment.
- SAP FICO certification or equivalent experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of end‑to‑end finance and controlling processes and their integration within SAP.
- Experience maintaining or improving SAP process templates and documentation.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on process improvement.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence across functions and geographies.
- Detail‑oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to travel moderately (10% to 25%) within EMEA.
