Head of Workshop Management Europe (m/w/d)

(location: Europe / preferred Hamburg or Vienna)

We are seeking a Senior Manager with strong leadership, strategic thinking, and execution skills to lead our European Workshop Management Team. In this high-profile role, you will ensure operational excellence across our workshop network for wagon maintenance services, manage a significant budget, and drive organizational change within the group.

Your main responsibilities:

• Leadership: Lead and manage our European Workshop Management Team, ensuring quality, timely, safe and cost-efficient stationary and mobile maintenance of the GATX wagon fleet.
• Supplier Management & Network Development: Oversee and coordinate supplier management, ensuring sufficient capacities and network development to meet fleet, geographical and capability needs.
• Organizational Transformation: Play a key role in driving organizational changes, with opportunities to share the future of the team and ensure alignment with strategic goals.
• Team Management: Support operational excellence as the main point of contact for the Management Board, reporting directly to the CTO. Act as a crucial interface to our Sales & Service departments, other Technical Operations teams, and the Executive Team.
• Strategy: Co-define and execute the European strategy for Technical Operations.
• Cost Management: Oversee budget responsibility, driving a cost-sensitive approach while ensuring operational effectiveness.

You are a good fit if you have:

• Degree in business administration and/or engineering.
• Strong leadership experience, ideally in an international environment.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to delegate effectively and engage teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strategic and proactive mindset.
• Market and technical knowledge of the railway industry, particularly in railcars and their technical supervision, is a strong plus.
• Experience with maintenance services (ECM 3), repair, or rental/leasing in the rail domain is highly desirable.
• Fluent in German and English.
