Become part of a winning team and help to deliver the Green Energy transition.

Job Description

The Central Europe Grid System Integration (GSI) team delivers a wide range of high voltage transmission projects, including connecting new generation sources and enhancing grid stability. We are seeking a Power Systems Engineer to lead the conceptual design of substations, define main electrical equipment parameters, and conduct specific electrical studies.

These projects typically include:

  1. New high voltage transmission substations
  2. Expansion and reinforcement of existing transmission substations and networks
  3. Onshore and offshore substations for wind farm connections and renewable technologies
  4. Network compensation and stability projects

In this role

You will conduct electrical component integration and interface activities, ensuring maximum performance and operability. You will develop solutions, undertake, or lead various studies to optimize substation design and provide consulting expertise.

Understanding customer power system requirements, regulatory constraints, and standards is essential. You will engage with customers to articulate solutions and address queries.

You will collaborate closely with mechanical and electrical teams to ensure the practical realization of the power system design is efficient and cost-effective.

You will manage third-party resources for detailed studies such as harmonic analysis, lighting, and noise studies, validating their work to support the proposed design.

Understanding substation design criteria, including earthing and arc pressure calculations, is important.

Requirements

To succeed, you should have:

  • An MSc or Ph.D. in Power or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience with electrical studies on high voltage transmission systems, including load flow, equipment sizing, reactive power management, harmonic management, and availability studies
  • Knowledge of insulation coordination
  • Proficiency with power system analysis software such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory or equivalent
  • German language skills are advantageous

Desired Characteristics

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of power transmission operations, relevant standards such as the German Grid Code, and the ability to communicate complex topics effectively with customers and consultants. You should be capable of bridging system studies and practical design, providing guidance to engineering teams.

You should be a team player with excellent communication skills, self-management abilities, flexibility, resilience, and a proactive learning attitude.
