Stevens Institute of Technology is one of the oldest and most prestigious technological research universities in the United States. Our beautiful campus sits along the Hudson River in a college town that overlooks Manhattan. For more than 150 years, we have developed a reputation as a higher education institution marked by excellent research, innovative and rigorous teaching, strong industry engagement, and exceptional opportunities for our graduates. Our mission is to inspire, nurture and educate leaders in tomorrow's technology-centric environment while contributing to the solution of the most challenging problems of our time. Our university is a hidden gem in a phase of unprecedented growth, and it is an exciting time to be a part of the Stevens community.
We are looking for a new Director of Sponsored Programs to lead the university in all matters related to research grants, fellowships, and contracts. Reporting directly to the Vice Provost for Research and Innovation (VPRI), the Director serves as a member of the VPRI's Leadership Council and is a vital member of a leadership team committed to achieving top-tier research administration excellence in serving an ambitious and collegial faculty. The Director will provide advice and recommendations to the VPRI on matters pertaining to research and sponsored programs.
Further, the Director will provide leadership in the implementation and advancement of university research goals, policies and practices while being charged with shaping an Office of Sponsored Programs to be of the highest quality, one that rises to the occasion of capturing and servicing awards of increasing complexity at an institution with rapidly rising research expenditures. The successful candidate is expected to be an experienced administrative leader with an in-depth understanding of federal and private funding organizations as well as a strong knowledge of federal guidelines and regulations governing federal research, including Uniform Guidance and export controls regulations.
Supporting the VPRI, they will also possess the capacity to build and strengthen research partnerships; elevate Stevens' identity as an innovative, technology-driven research institution; and facilitate the creation of a shared sense of mission across the university's research enterprise. Knowledge of current regulations governing research using human subjects, animal subjects as well as regulations and issues concerning responsible conduct of research and biosafety in addition to an understanding of university technology transfer would be considered an asset.
