Job Description:
GDIT has an exciting opportunity to support U.S. Army Europe and Africa in Wiesbaden Germany as a member of our Enterprise Mission Information Technology Services program.
The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, planning, and building communications networks supporting a multi-tenant customer base. Responsibilities include learning new platforms, developing and deploying multi-tenant enabled solutions, and training team members on operations. The Network Engineer will also plan and implement major changes to core routing and switching infrastructure, major network expansions, and analyze customer requirements to provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
HOW A NETWORK ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
- Develop automated solutions to monitor network resources for health and configuration compliance.
- Work closely with systems and security teams to define requirements and engineer solutions using Zero-Trust ideals.
- Assist the team with procurement support as required.
- Provide technical training, documentation, and technical assistance to Help Desk personnel and other organizations.
- Work closely with vendors to design and implement new systems.
- Maintain – and potentially acquire – the certifications necessary to meet the evolving needs of the mission.
- Perform on-site data center visits for installations, reconfigurations, and device decommissioning.
- Other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED
Experience: 7+ years of demonstrated Network Engineering experience.
Security Clearance: Secret clearance.
Certifications: CCNA, CCNP or equivalent industry certification is required. Must meet DOD 8570 requirements and be eligible for IAT level II access upon hire for positions with elevated privileges.
Skills and Experience: Knowledge and experience with routing, switching, and encryption protocols (e.g. OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, Spanning Tree Protocol, ISAKMP, ESP, MACSEC, etc.). Experience designing and implementing routed networks in multi-vendor environments requiring high availability. Knowledge and experience with MP-BGP concepts including Layer 3 VPN over MPLS and EVPN. Knowledge and experience with current Cisco IOS software and hardware features. Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current CCNP Routing and Switching or CCNP Enterprise
- Strong understanding of multi-enclave network environments.
- Experience supporting DoD Command and Control (C2) system requirements, including multicast-based content delivery.
- Strong understanding of ISE design, protocols, profiles, management, and functions.
- Knowledge and experience with CSfC Multi-Site Connectivity and Mobility packages.
- Knowledge and experience with data center networking, hyper-converged server infrastructure, network storage.
- Ability to develop Infrastructure as Code using Ansible, and understanding of CI/CD pipeline for software development.
- Programming/scripting languages: Python, Visual Basic for Applications (Office), Bash.

Salary Range: The likely salary range for this position is $93,500 – $126,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location, and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
