Systems Administrator/Help Desk Specialist

Seeking candidates to support the US Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM). Under the I2TS 3 task order, INSCOM ensures reliable, uninterrupted availability of Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Information Management (C4IM) including: networks, hardware, software, engineering, and specialized tools at the point of customer need to support INSCOM\’s mission. INSCOM and its MSCs provide the enabling layer to connect the Army and its tactical formations to defense and national intelligence agencies via tactical networks. The ability to provide mission critical intelligence is dependent on the successful use of its information technology (IT) networks worldwide.

HOW A SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

An I2TS 3 Systems Administrator will:

1. Develop advanced technical solutions for the management of software, hardware, configurations, and architectures. Provides interpretation to systems matters that are highly complex in nature.
2. Provide troubleshooting support for system hardware and software issues that are highly difficult in scope.
3. Develop training materials for end user training on the proper use of hardware and software.
4. Develop implementation plans for basic software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
5. Advise less experienced personnel on the monitoring and tuning of systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
6. Advise less experienced personnel on workstation/server data integrity matters and the implementation of standard software and hardware solutions.
7. Lead complex data/media recoverability following a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
8. Use advanced techniques in hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
9. Help to develop performance and security plans for computer systems that meet the needs of network users. Provide guidance to less experienced personnel.
10. Be recognized as a subject matter expert in job area typically through advanced education and work experience. Establish operational plans. Manage large projects which will have medium to large impact on the company. Problems faced are difficult and often complex. Work performed is critical to the organization.
11. Use advanced knowledge in evaluating and assessing existing network systems and planning long-term strategies.
12. May coach and review the work of less-experienced professionals.
13. May serve as a team or task leader. (Not a people manager)

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED

1. Education: High School Diploma/GED with 8 years of related experience, or Associate\’s Degree with 6 years of experience, or Bachelor\’s Degree with 4 years of experience
2. Skills: Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in network and systems administration and support; Knowledge of related hardware and software; Linux and Microsoft OS knowledge
3. Certification(s): DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II Computing Environment (CE) Certification as determined by the Program Manager is required prior to support on contract (Microsoft MCSA or equivalent); Required Security Environment Certification: CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent
4. Security Clearance Required: Secret
