GDIT is in need of a VTC Engineer to support our EMITS program in Grafenwoehr Germany supporting USAG Bavaria AOR.
The VTC Engineer is responsible for the design and development of network solutions, have comprehensive knowledge of programming code, voice, and video and/or data communications networks. Management of VTC solutions, networks and associated network equipment.
The VTC Engineer will operate, maintain, and troubleshoot systems used for Unified Communication (UC) services, room scheduling, and digital signage; including performing health audio/video checks, performance enhancements, and level-setting, scheduling UC sessions, training personnel in the operation of equipment and UC platforms, and other services related to UC and A/V.
HOW A VTC ENGINEER WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
- Approximately 80-90% of the job will be VTC, A/V, UC related issues
- Travel requirement 10-20%. travel to subordinate command sites within USAG Bavaria footprint
- Create, update and maintain SOPs and TTPs for business continuity.
- Review the ITSM Remedy ticket queue to identify issues that need to be addressed. work through the ticket queue. Resolves tickets within established SLAs
- Provide assistance to users, including executive staff, in conducting live UC sessions, which may include conference preparation, monitor equipment and system performance, reporting equipment and network problems to appropriate parties for maintenance or repair.
- Use expertise and knowledge of video composition principles and techniques such as framing, lighting, perspective, and sound design when setting up A/V events.
- Work in collaboration with vendors in support of A/V installation and maintenance.
- Install new A/V system and maintain current equipment. This shall include running cables throughout buildings (often above ceilings and under floors) and programming sophisticated control equipment.
- Perform Crestron coding and installing software patches, updates, troubleshooting software interfaces.
- Maintain technologies and hardware including, but not limited to, transmitter/receivers, video/display projection, microphones, codecs, DSPs, cameras.
- Assess and provides troubleshooting to all UC services. Troubleshooting includes, but is not limited to: diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and installation.
- Adapt to new equipment and techniques as necessary.
- Establishes and maintains high levels of customer satisfaction according to defined objectives while adhering to policies.
- Exhibits good communication skills, an energetic approach, and patience with customers.
- Ability to work well as part of a team, communicating professionally both orally and in writing. Coordinate with users, IT staff, and management as needed.
- Configure and manage Cisco equipment and associated network systems and ensure the network is protected and secure.
- Provide pro-active network management of switches routers, and other ancillary devices to ensure a constant state of readiness and availability.
- Ensure the network is properly configured and operating efficiently while maintaining constant network availability and 100% network uptime.
- Schedule and perform preventative maintenance checks and services (PMCS) on a regularly scheduled basis and provide touch labor service support as needed.
- May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professional techs.
- Participates in special projects as required.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED
- Security Clearance Required: SECRET/SSBI with the ability to obtain TS/SCI as required
- Education: BA/BS
- Experience: 6+ years plus relevant and related military/government experience performing network engineering, and network and systems administration support is required. Experience in IT project management is desired.
- Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in AV troubleshooting and support; Comprehensive knowledge of related software and hardware i.e., Zoom, Teams, WebEx, Poly, Crestron, Dante, Biamp, Shure, QSC, Logitech, Barco, Cisco, Aver, Vaddio, Planar, and Chief.
- Must have Crestron & Dante programming and coding experience.
- Certifications: Must have Security+; CCNA certification within 6 months of hire. Must have ITIL certification within 6 months of hire
