The Role

The Associate Director, Medical Affairs Strategy serves as the medical expert for assigned therapeutic areas and products in Germany.

Reporting to the Head of Medical Affairs, Germany, the role is responsible for developing and executing the local medical strategy for the assigned therapeutic areas, in alignment with German affiliate, regional and global medical strategy.

The role works in close partnership with Medical Science Liaisons and cross-functional stakeholders to advance medical excellence, scientific engagement and evidence generation across the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Medical Strategy & Scientific Expertise
• Develop and execute the German Medical Affairs strategy and annual medical plan for assigned therapeutic areas, in alignment with German affiliate priorities and regional and global medical strategies.
• Collaborate with regional and global medical affairs to integrate German perspectives into above-country strategic planning.
• Serve as the local medical and scientific expert for the assigned therapeutic areas, products, the evolving clinical landscape, and the competitive environment.
• Translate global medical strategy into locally relevant medical initiatives considering the German healthcare environment.
• Lead Medical Affairs pre-launch and launch readiness activities for assigned therapeutic areas and products.
• Identify medical opportunities, evidence gaps, and unmet needs to inform medical strategy and future evidence generation.
• Provide medical input to: Brand plans, Pre-launch, launch and lifecycle management, AMNOG dossier preparation and market access activities and Integrated evidence generation planning
• Plan and manage the allocated budget for assigned therapeutic areas and activities.
• Leverage digital tools, analytics and innovative approaches to enhance Medical Affairs effectiveness, scientific engagement and impact.
• External Scientific Engagement
• Build and maintain scientific relationships with key German healthcare professionals, scientific societies, and healthcare institutions.
• Lead planning and execution of medical advisory boards, scientific meetings and symposia, as well as and medical education initiatives.
• Partner with Medical Science Liaisons to translate medical strategy into impactful field medical activities.
• Represent Genmab Germany at national and international scientific congresses.
• Scientific Communication & Evidence Generation
• Develop and execute the local Medical Communications strategy, including the development and adaptation of scientific materials to address local needs.
• Provide Medical Affairs input into German clinical development activities and collaborate with Clinical Development and Clinical Operations where appropriate.
• Identify and implement real-world evidence initiatives.
• Support scientific oversight of investigator-sponsored trials and collaborative research projects.
• Collaborate with regional and global teams to ensure local publication priorities are addressed and proactively identify relevant local publication and encore opportunities.
• Implement and execute local early access programmes where applicable.
• Monitor developments in the German treatment landscape, clinical guidelines and standards of care and translate relevant changes into Medical Affairs priorities.
• Cross-functional Collaboration
• Act as a key medical partner to cross-functional partners including Market Access, Marketing, Sales and Clinical Development.
• Ensure that strategically aligned scientific content is incorporated appropriately in materials with accurate, fair and balanced statements and conclusions supported by suitable data.
• Provide scientific review and validation of promotional and non-promotional materials.
• Contribute to the development and delivery of scientific training for Genmab Germany employees.
• Insights Generation & Strategic Impact
• Drive systematic collection, analysis and communication of medical insights from external stakeholders and provide German insights to inform regional and global strategy.
• Translate field insights into actionable recommendations for local, regional and global Medical Affairs, Clinical Development and Commercial teams.
• Compliance & Governance
• Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, industry codes, Genmab policies and SOPs.
• Maintain high ethical standards in all interactions

Requirements

• Advanced Scientific or Medical Degree (Pharm D, Ph D, MD) or relevant clinical/professional background required.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant Medical Affairs experience within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry including experience as a Medical Advisor or in a comparable strategic Medical Affairs role.
• Oncology experience required, preferably within gynaecological oncology and/or head and neck oncology.
• Ability to translate global medical affairs objectives to local strategy and action.
• Strong understanding of aligning medical affairs and business objectives within the context of the German compliance environment.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills, strong personal integrity, teamwork abilities, and patient-centric focus are essential.
• Flexible, with a positive attitude, strong ability to multi-task, prioritise effectively and communicate at all levels within the company.
• Fluency in German and English.
• Demonstrated technical proficiency including Microsoft Office and the ability to adopt and leverage digital business applications.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for additional forms of compensation, such as discretionary bonuses and long-term incentives.
