The GFZ eScience Centre participates in Helmholtz-wide measures to promote software development and data management. These include the Helmholtz-wide projects HIFIS and DataHub, as well as thematically related projects. The Helmholtz IT Services (HIFIS, https://hifis.net/) meet the needs of science for a modern information infrastructure. The eScience Centre focuses on the promotion of scientific communities where research software is developed and supports them in the implementation of best practices in research software engineering. The DataHub (https://datahub.erde-und-umwelt.de/) is an initiative to bring together the research data of the seven centres of the Helmholtz Research Field Earth and Environment in an open, networked information infrastructure. To this end, the eScience Centre is involved in the development of a coordinated and interlinked range of digital tools and services.
Your responsibilities:
- Foster collaboration in dynamic, collaborative teams
- Independently design and implement agile software development processes
- Work closely with user groups to design and implement web applications
- Build and maintain vibrant user communities
- Teach agile software development methods in research
- Establish exchange networks for software enthusiasts within the Helmholtz Association
- Contribute in trainings, workshops, hackathons and online courses
- Establish information platforms for support and advice in developing research software
- Improve services based on requirements from research
Your qualifications:
- University degree (Master`s degree or equivalent) in Computer Science and/or Management or equivalent with practical experience in software projects
- Knowledge and experience in agile processes, business analysis, requirements management and process development
- Ability to independently coordinate and organise communities
- Communication skills and ability to communicate complex knowledge
- Experience in liaising with different departments and stakeholders
- Experience in editorial writing
- Motivation, initiative and creativity
- Ability to cooperate and work in teams
- Independent, solution-oriented working style
- Advanced knowledge English and German, both written and spoken
