Join GitHub as a Staff Software Engineer on the Traffic Team to help scale and secure the edge network that powers millions of developers. You will shape the architecture of load balancing and traffic routing, collaborate with a global, distributed team, and own impactful technical decisions. You’ll maintain the GitHub Load Balancer and related traffic systems, delivering reliable performance at global scale. Verantwortungsbereiche
- Lead technical decision making and architecture
- Design scalable, reliable, and performant traffic solutions (rate-limiting, routing)
- Maintain and improve the GitHub Load Balancer and traffic-management systems
- Write, review, and maintain code in Go and Ruby on Rails
- Mentor engineers in technical and architectural decisions
- Participate in on-call rotations and team rituals
Zentrale Anforderungen
- 9+ years in Software Engineering or related field with production software experience in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Rust, or Python OR relevant degree with extensive experience
- 4+ years building and supporting high-traffic applications at scale in platform/infrastructure domains
- 4+ years cloud native workloads in Azure, AWS or Google Cloud
- 2+ years experience maintaining a Load Balancer with abuse protection mechanisms (DDoS, load shedding)
- Experience with HAProxy or other open-source load balancers (preferred)
- 2+ years Golang experience (preferred)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience collaborating with remote/distributed teams
