The Role: HPC Linux System Administrator
Location: Munich Region, Germany

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced HPC Linux System Administrator to support and maintain high-performance computing (HPC) environments for complex engineering and scientific workloads. The ideal candidate will have strong Linux administration skills, experience with HPC clusters, and a solid scripting background to automate and optimize system operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and optimize Linux-based HPC environments.
- Manage and monitor HPC clusters, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot Linux systems and related infrastructure.
- Support users running computational and scientific workloads.
- Manage workload scheduling and resource allocation using HPC workload managers.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts to streamline system administration tasks.
- Perform system monitoring, capacity planning, and performance tuning.
- Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, and research teams to improve HPC operations.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Linux System Administrator in enterprise or HPC environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with:Linux Administration (Red Hat, CentOS, Rocky Linux or similar)
- Bash Scripting
- Python Scripting
- HPC Workload Managers (Slurm preferred)
- Experience managing HPC clusters and distributed computing environments.
- Knowledge of system monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
- Understanding of networking, storage, and security concepts in Linux environments.
- Native German language skills (mandatory).
- Good English communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Ansible, Puppet, or other automation tools.
- Knowledge of container technologies (Docker, Podman, Singularity/Apptainer).
- Experience supporting scientific, engineering, or research computing environments.
- Exposure to cloud-based HPC solutions.
