GOLDBECK SOLAR is a leading provider of turnkey solar systems on commercial roofs and open spaces.

With our dedicated team, we develop, plan, build, support and finance photovoltaic systems in Germany, Europe and worldwide – tailor‑made with a system.

This is what you can expect

In this newly established, business‑critical role, you will become the core technical and engineering backbone of our global Category Management team.

Your primary focus will be the technical evaluation, qualification, and strategic sourcing of utility‑scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

You will work at the crucial intersection between international Tier‑1 equipment manufacturers (e. g., cell, container, and inverter suppliers) and internal regional engineering and sales departments.

Your mission is to bridge the gap between engineering and procurement, translating complex technical project requirements into optimized commercial configurations and standardized procurement frameworks to safeguard our rapidly growing European utility‑scale pipeline.

Your Responsibilities

  • Review and technically evaluate large‑scale battery storage solutions (BESS) from top global suppliers like Sungrow, CATL etc.
  • Manage the technical aspects of tender processes, compare different supplier offers, and help make clear buying decisions.
  • Analyze technical requests from clients and match them with the best and most cost‑effective battery setups.
  • Work closely with internal engineering teams to optimise designs, cut unnecessary costs, and prevent over‑engineering.
  • Create and maintain internal tools and templates, such as battery degradation models, to speed up the pre‑sales process.
  • Align directly with battery manufacturers on technical details, boundaries, and communication protocols before contracts are signed.
  • Help procurement managers write the technical parts of contracts, focusing on performance guarantees, efficiency, and battery lifecycles.
  • Spot technical risks in the supply chain and help grade supplier performance.

What we are looking for

  • A university degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a similar technical field.
  • Several years of professional experience in engineering or technical sourcing, ideally working with large‑scale battery storage, substations, or high‑voltage projects.
  • A solid understanding of battery technologies, grid connections, and single‑line diagrams.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn complex technical data into easy‑to‑use Excel tools.
  • A proactive, problem‑solving mindset with the drive to build new frameworks and processes from scratch.
  • Confident communication skills to manage technical discussions with global suppliers and explain technical terms to commercial managers.
  • Fluency in English and German is required.
  • Annual increase in remuneration in line with the average inflation rate.
  • Flexibility in the number of vacation days.
  • Possibility of mobile work.
  • Childcare allowance of up to €600 per child of toddler age.
  • Subsidy of 15% to the company pension scheme.
  • Capital‑forming benefits of around €300 per year.
  • Job bike after the probationary period.
  • In‑house canteen.
  • On‑site gym.
  • Very good connections to public transport and the A5 motorway.
  • An open, trusting and professional cooperation with a focus on success and enjoyment of daily work.
  • Working with a highly trained international team in a dynamic, international market.
  • The best conditions for independent work as well as exciting and challenging topics.
  • Helping to shape the global energy transition.
