The Private Bank is a business unit of the Asset and Wealth Management Division (AWM) that provides tailored lending and banking products, such as bank loans, mortgages, deposits, and margin financings, to high-net-worth clients of the firm’s global Wealth Management businesses. The Private Bank has an ambitious growth agenda, which requires enhanced management of operational and regulatory risks.
YOUR IMPACT
The Private Bank has established a GRA team of seven members, with one in Frankfurt, three in London, and three in New York. The global head of the GRA Team is based in London. The team oversees a robust governance and controls program, manages regulatory relationships across various jurisdictions, examines processes for efficiency, and provides legal and regulatory expertise for transaction structuring. The team focuses on: (i) governance and controls; (ii) regulatory oversight and reporting; and (iii) transaction execution and projects.
As a member of the GRA team, you will help build and oversee the Private Bank’s governance and controls framework and promote a culture of compliance to enhance efficiency and mitigate risks, supporting excellent client execution.
The GRA team is a vital part of the Private Bank’s first line of defense, contributing to its growth and revenue objectives.
Responsibilities
- Advising the Private Bank on governance and regulatory matters.
- Managing multiple priorities with sound judgment.
- Establishing trusted partnerships with peers and stakeholders.
- Supporting business strategy execution across functions like product development, risk management, and reporting.
- Collaborating with cross-divisional teams including Lenders, Underwriting, Deposits, Operations, Technology, and Legal.
Governance and Controls
- Overseeing new activities and initiatives, ensuring stakeholder connectivity.
- Managing product governance, policies, and procedures.
- Developing action plans in response to regulator feedback to ensure effective controls and policies.
- Preparing and presenting materials for internal committees and meetings.
- Implementing controls to ensure compliance with new regulations.
- Supporting Risk, Control, and Self-Assessment processes.
- Coordinating outsourcing, Business Continuity Plans, and audits.
- Assisting with legal entity oversight and governance reporting.
Regulatory Oversight
- Maintaining excellent relations with regulators and ensuring timely completion of exams.
- Managing regulatory relationships and reporting.
- Participating in regulator interactions and supporting resolution planning.
- Keeping abreast of industry trends and regulatory expectations.
- Providing legal/regulatory input on transactions and initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree with relevant financial services experience.
- Strong presentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
- Creative, collaborative, and eager to learn.
- Team-oriented with excellent communication skills.
- Proactive, accountable, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience in a global investment bank is a plus.
- Fluent in English; German skills are preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
