BUSINESS UNIT OVERVIEW
AWM Public Technology is directly aligned to the business, working on a variety of software engineering problems that range in duration from hours to years. It is a fast-paced environment, adapting to market and customer needs to create software that is robust enough to cater to an ever-changing business environment. AWM Public Technology utilizes an array of different technologies with increasing development focus on open source and Linux-based technologies.
Within the Asia Pacific region, AWM Public Technology has teams in Tokyo, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Bengaluru. The teams work closely together to serve business users all over Asia (Tokyo, Hong Kong, Bengaluru, and Singapore) and in some cases other regions in the US and Europe.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will work as an analyst developer writing software as part of a small team based in the Tokyo office. Work will include both global and local projects with full life-cycle involvement from analysis and design through to implementation and support. Responsibilities will include working closely with the business users to refine requirements and develop solutions to meet these requirements. Good teamwork & communication skills are essential.
The systems developed and supported by the group range from vendor applications to in-house applications, and supported functionalities includes trade management, client reporting, mutual fund reporting, reconciliation, fund accounting, and compliance surveillance tools. These systems are developed and deployed both globally and regionally and are built using a number of technologies: Java, Java Script based frameworks, scripting languages, Sybase, container technologies.
- Maintain and support existing production systems directly with users and clients.
- Work closely with users to establish requirements.
- Work as part of the Global team.
- Work on development of global strategic projects and regional specific solutions.
- Build & maintain strong relationships with business users and other technology teams.
- Understand the key drivers of the business and the products traded.
DEVELOPMENT PROSPECTS
The role involves working closely with Operations, Fund Services, Controllers, and Compliance users, representing an opportunity to learn a great deal about the AWM Public business and to become familiar with a variety of products traded within AWM Public Asia. The role will also involve coaching of other members of the team and taking a lead in promoting strong analysis, developing and support practices. This will provide an opportunity to show strategic initiative and leadership in these areas.
SKILL / EXPERIENCE
MANDATORY
- Approximately 1+ years of experience in business facing IT role.
- Experience with Java and Sybase/SQL.
- Highly motivated with a desire to work in a technical role closely aligned with federation business units.
- Strong analytical and teamwork skills.
- Strong communication and client-facing skills.
- Strong desire to learn the business.
- Personal organization and task management.
- Attention to details.
PREFERRED
- Familiarity with Linux operating system platform.
- Ideally candidate would have some Asset Management or financial industry experience.
- Japanese/Chinese language is a plus.
QUALIFICATIONS
University degree or equivalent.
