Located in Geneva, Switzerland, the Institute offers a stimulating, multicultural and interdisciplinary academic environment. It offers masters and doctoral programmes, and conducts cutting-edge research on major global challenges.
Introduction of the Centre:
NORRAG, the Global Education Centre of the Geneva Graduate Institute, is a leading hub dedicated to advancing quality, equity, and justice in education and training worldwide. Its work focuses on generating and amplifying critical knowledge—particularly from the Global South—to inform more inclusive, evidence‑based decision‑making. Through research, capacity‑building, and global network engagement, NORRAG contributes to shaping fairer and more effective education policies and practices.
Overview:
The SNSF-funded project “Knowledge Production, Networks, and Power in Global Education Governance: The Politics of Expertise in UNESCO, OECD, and the World Bank” invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position.
The project examines how international organizations produce and mobilize expert knowledge in global education governance. Using a mixed-methods research design that combines social network analysis and “network‑cued” interviews, the project investigates who produces global education policy knowledge, how networks of expertise are structured, and how organizational practices shape the production and circulation of knowledge.
The postdoctoral researcher will join a collaborative research team led by Professor Chanwoong Baek and contribute to the empirical research.
Key responsibilities:
The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to the project’s research activities, including data collection, analysis, and fieldwork and will also assist with project-related administrative tasks.
Required qualifications:
- A doctoral degree in political science, international relations, comparative and international education, education policy, or a related social science discipline.
- Strong background in the politics of expertise, global governance, and international organizations.
- Training and experience in social network analysis.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within an international research team.
What you can expect from us:
- Salary and other welfare benefits in line with the SNSF range for postdoctoral researchers.
- A diverse, enriching, and collaborative academic community.
