Postdoctoral Researcher in Economics F/M/D
The newly created Hoffmann Centre for Global Sustainability (HCGS) at the Geneva Graduate Institute invites applications for a postdoctoral research position. The HCGS will position itself as one of the leading research and policy hubs in Europe dedicated to the study of global sustainability. We seek a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with expertise in economics to contribute to our research and academic community.
The Postdoc will work under the supervision of Professor Dominic Rohner (Department of Economics and HCGS). It will conduct independent research in political economics, development economics, and/or environmental economics, collaborate with faculty members and other researchers on ongoing and/or new projects, publish research findings in leading peer-reviewed journals, participate in seminars, workshops, and conferences, and potentially help with teaching (if desired).
The HCGS focuses on rigorous world-class research published in top-tier journals providing key policy lessons for decision-making on global sustainability for a peaceful, equitable, and sustainable world for current and future generations.
The HCGS and the Economics Department offer a stimulating intellectual environment where you will develop research skills allowing you to contribute to expanding knowledge with a policy orientation and strengthen your academic profile. Our faculty includes world-class scholars in economics and other disciplines, and features one of the highest concentrations of members of the CEPR leadership team worldwide. We also actively interact with the vast economist community of the Geneva-based international organizations (WTO, ILO, UNCTAD, World Bank office), and the economic departments of the Universities of Geneva and Lausanne, which amounts to an increasingly booming intellectual hub in one of Europe’s most attractive regions.
The position is for two years. The postdoc will be based at the Geneva Graduate Institute, in Geneva, Switzerland (with the exception of occasional travel). The start date is subject to negotiation.
Requirements for the position
- Specialization in Political Economics, Development Economics, and/or Environmental Economics;
- Capacity to publish in top-tier economics journals;
- Outstanding econometric skills are essential;
- Cutting-edge data processing skills (web scraping, machine learning, geographical information systems) are valued;
- Excellent written and oral communication in English (both oral and written);
