Overview
As a Senior Engineer on Pyroscope, you own end-to-end projects to advance the open-source profiling database within Grafana Cloud. You will shape architecture, ship platform capabilities, and collaborate across Grafana squads to reduce toil and improve onboarding. You’ll work with customers to translate needs into actionable deliverables and contribute to the OSS project. This role combines hands-on systems work with product-minded decision making in a remote, collaborative culture.

Verantwortungsbereiche
- Lead end-to-end projects from concept to rollout (e.g., read path optimization, trace-to-profile correlation)
- Design, build, and operate core components of a distributed database (ingestion, storage, query) with performance and cost trade-offs
- Participate in customer calls and influence roadmap without a dedicated PM
- Drive reliability and cost targets through automation and improved on-call experience
- Collaborate with App Observability, Alloy, Tempo, and other Database squads to integrate profiles across Grafana
- Participate in on-call (EMEA rotation) and contribute to post-incident learning
- Contribute to open source by reviewing contributions and steering the project in the open
- Promote developer productivity with AI-assisted development and rapid iteration
- Prototype and implement API/CLI/docs to support AI agents in profiling workflows
- Support growth through onboarding enhancements, instrumentation, and BYOC/region automation
- Engage in design discussions, code reviews, and pair programming in a remote setup
Zentrale Anforderungen
- Solid experience with a systems language (Go; other languages such as Rust, C/C++, Python, Java are acceptable)
- Production experience with distributed systems and multi-tenant cloud services
- Product sense and ability to translate customer pain into deliverables in a hands-on team without a PM

- Strong software craftsmanship and maintenance practices
- Operational mindset with pager/SRE experience or infrastructure as code
