The global leader for impact reporting, GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) is the independent, international organization that helps businesses and other organizations have a discussion based on facts and not on perceptions on impacts, by providing them with the global common language to communicate those impacts. GRI envisions a sustainable future in which reporting on impacts is common practice by all organizations around the world.

Used by more than 10,000 organizations in over 100 countries, the Standards are advancing the practice of sustainability reporting, and enabling organizations and their stakeholders to take action that creates economic, environmental and social benefits for everyone. GRI works with businesses, investors, policymakers, civil society, labor organizations and other experts to develop the GRI Standards and promote their use by organizations around the world.

GRI is now seeking a selection of motivated, thoughtful and highly strategic members to join their Supervisory Board. The Supervisory Board Members will play a crucial role in advancing GRI's impact, making further progress on its goals, growing its global presence and reach, facilitating the adoption of GRI Standards, whilst shaping the global agenda for sustainability and public policy.

Supervisory Board Members will guide and co-create strategy, advising the organization as it continues to adapt and remain relevant within an ever-changing corporate reporting landscape. At this time, GRI is particularly keen to attract Supervisory Board Members who bring skills and expertise from a range of backgrounds including:

  • Policy, advocacy and government affairs;
  • Communications, marketing and media;
  • IT and Technology;
  • Legal and good governance.

The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate significant experience of strategic leadership, ideally gained from relevant stakeholder constituents (businesses, investors, policymakers, civil society, labor organizations). They will fundamentally appreciate the role of good governance, and in particular the subtle differences between non-executive and executive leadership, providing inclusive advice to, and collaboration with, the Management Board.

Successful candidates will bring exceptional integrity and excellent intellectual and analytical skills. Experience gained within standards setting, or the broader sustainability ecosystem will be valuable. Most importantly, the appointed Supervisory Board Members will demonstrate a genuine commitment to GRI's mission as the world's leading and most widely trusted sustainability reporting standards.

To apply, please submit a CV and cover letter detailing how you match the job description and personal requirements, quoting reference 6840. The deadline for applications is 9am BST on Monday 16th October 2023.
