You didn’t build your career to maintain legacy desktop sims. Build the simulation backbone that an AI will fly. Join Grob Aircraft. Apply today.
Grob Aircraft has been designing and building aircraft in Bavaria for decades, from trainers and composite airframes to some of the most advanced aeronautical structures in the world. Engineering excellence and precision manufacturing are what we do.
Together with Helsing, our parent company and Europe’s leading defence AI company, we are now taking on our most ambitious programme yet: the CA-1 Europa, Europe’s first AI combat aircraft. This is not a study or a roadmap. We are designing, building, and testing, right now, right here.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and maintain high-fidelity flight dynamics models for fixed-wing aircraft, covering aerodynamics, propulsion, mass properties and flight controls.
- Build, process and validate aerodynamic databases from CFD, wind tunnel and flight test data, including data fusion, smoothing and uncertainty quantification.
- Integrate flight dynamics models into desktop, real-time and pilot-in-the-loop simulation environments.
- Perform model validation and verification (V&V), define acceptance criteria, and document model fidelity, limitations and applicability for downstream users.
- Support handling-qualities assessments and model updates throughout the development cycle, from conceptual design to flight testing.
- Prepare and deliver technical artefacts for certification and qualification: model description documents, V&V reports, requirement traceability, test cases and supporting evidence for flight clearance.
Experience & Qualifications
- MSc (or equivalent) in Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- 5+ years of professional experience in flight dynamics modelling, simulation development or aerodynamic database generation, including certification or qualification work (CS-23/CS-25; military standards is a plus).
- Strong theoretical foundation in flight mechanics, aircraft equations of motion, stability and control, and aerodynamic modelling techniques.
- Proven experience building, integrating and validating flight dynamics models and processing aerodynamic data from CFD, wind tunnel and flight test sources.
- Proven experience in handling-qualities assessment and piloted simulation.
- Familiarity with system identification techniques and the use of flight test data for model tuning and validation.
- Strong programming skills in Python and MATLAB/Simulink; experience with C/C++ for real-time simulation environments is a plus.
- Excellent English communication and presentation skills for engaging with technical teams and certification authorities.
- Experience with military aircraft (design, flight testing, or flight dynamics modelling).
What We Offer
- Your simulation will fly real aircraft and host real AI. Direct collaboration with Helsing’s AI and autonomy teams.
- 40-hour work week, flexitime, 30 vacation days.
- Company pension plan, accident insurance, disability insurance subsidy.
- Fly the Grob G115 in your free time (PPL holders) and access to the Grob flight simulator.
- Subsidised lunch, EGYM Wellpass, corporate benefits platform.
- Short decision paths, open leadership, no unnecessary bureaucracy.
