Senior Flight Dynamics Engineer (m/f/x) – Stability and Control

Vollzeit Vor Ort
G

Grob Aircraft has been designing and building aircraft in Bavaria for decades, from trainers and composite airframes to some of the most advanced aeronautical structures in the world. Engineering excellence and precision manufacturing are what we do.

Together with Helsing, our parent company and Europe's leading defence AI company, we are now taking on our most ambitious programme yet: the CA-1 Europa, Europe's first AI combat aircraft. This is not a study or a roadmap. We are designing, building, and testing, right now, right here.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Flight Dynamics Engineer to perform stability and control analysis, develop and validate aircraft models, perform handling-qualities analysis, and support flight control development across simulation and test. You will work at the intersection of aerodynamics, performance, loads, flight controls, systems, flight test and certification.

This role suits engineers with a strong flight mechanics foundation, whether your background is in civil certification, military flight test, simulation development, or flight control support. What matters is that you understand how an aircraft behaves and can model, analyze and improve it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct stability and control analyses and assessments (MIL-STD/ADS-33/CS-25/CS-23 considerations as applicable).
  • Prepare and deliver technical artefacts for certification and verification: analysis reports and support for flight tests.
  • Develop, implement and maintain high-fidelity 6-degree-of-freedom (6DOF) simulation models for flight dynamics evaluations of fixed-wing aircraft.
  • Produce recommendations and design solutions.
  • Validate aerodynamic models (database generation/processing) from CFD, wind tunnel and flight test data.

Experience & Qualifications

  • MSc (or equivalent) in Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5 to 10+ years of professional experience in flight mechanics, including certification work (CS-23/CS-25; military standards is a plus).
  • Proven experience in aircraft stability and control and handling-qualities assessment throughout handbook methods, simulation and flight testing.
  • Experience building and validating aircraft simulation models and processing aerodynamic data.
  • Experience supporting Fly-By-Wire (FBW) or flight-control system development.
  • Strong programming skills in MATLAB/Simulink and Python.
  • Excellent English communication and presentation skills for engaging with technical teams and certification authorities.
  • Experience with military aircraft (design, flight testing, or handling qualities).
  • Familiarity with system identification techniques and the use of flight test data for model tuning and validation is a plus.

What We Offer

We are a dynamic, family-owned company with short decision-making processes and an open-door culture. Enjoy a range of attractive benefits, including:

FLYING AT GROB

  • Fly the GROB G115 in your free time (for PPL license holders)
  • Access to the GROB TP flight simulator

SECURITY & RETIREMENT

  • Company pension scheme
  • GROB accident insurance
  • Contribution toward occupational disability insurance

HEALTH & WELL-BEING

  • EGYM Wellpass membership (employee contribution: only €24.90/month)

  • Free coffee and water

WORK–LIFE BALANCE

  • Bridge days off with flexible working hours
  • DEKA working time account
  • Childcare allowance

ADDITIONAL PERKS

  • VIP tickets to FC Bayern Munich matches at the Allianz Arena
  • Employee referral bonus
  • Long-service anniversary gifts
