We are looking for an Intern - Data Analyst to support our commercial research and counterparty analysis for a major logistics partner. This role focuses on translating raw market information into the clear insights our partners need to advise on complex investment decisions. You will help us untangle data that shapes how large entities enter new markets and manage joint ventures. This is a full-time, fully remote position that allows you to contribute to high-stakes projects from any location.
What you will do
Gulf Associates is a specialized firm that values ground reality over theoretical models. We do not produce reports meant to sit on a shelf; we provide the evidence and judgment necessary for a client to take a specific position. Our culture is direct and honest, reflecting the environments where we operate. We stay close to the logic of the market, often sitting in the room during the negotiations and regulator conversations where outcomes are actually decided. Because we maintain a small book of active engagements, every member of our team is focused on work that has a clear purpose. We prefer clear communication and evidence-based drafting, avoiding the usual corporate fluff in favor of what is true and actionable. In this role, you will see how commercial decisions are made when the stakes are at their highest.
What you will do
- Collect and organize data from various sources to build a clear picture of market behavior within the territory.
- Maintain and update Excel models used to test different commercial scenarios for our logistics partner.
- Research specific counterparties and competitors to identify how they are behaving in the current environment.
- Prepare clear charts and tables that help partners explain complex data points to senior decision-makers.
- Audit internal reports for numerical accuracy to ensure every piece of evidence we present is verified.
- Monitor trade flows and port activity data to identify shifts in the logistics sector.
- Assist the team in preparing briefing notes for sovereign entities and chief executives ahead of negotiations.
- A background in economics, finance, or a related field where you have practiced analytical thinking.
- Proficiency in Excel, including a comfort level with organizing datasets and using basic formulas.
- A logical mindset and a genuine curiosity about how commercial deals are structured and settled.
- Strong writing skills with a focus on being concise and factual rather than using descriptive filler.
- A high level of discipline regarding detail and the ability to spot errors in complex documents.
- The ability to work independently and manage your own tasks in a fully remote setting.
- An interest in the logistics industry and the practical reality of how state and private capital interact.
- A paid internship with a competitive rate for the entry level market.
- The flexibility of working in a remote environment where outcomes are valued over fixed hours.
- Direct exposure to senior partners who are involved in the work from start to finish.
- A chance to see how commercial judgment is applied to high-stakes investment decisions.
