  • Position Overview

As a Development Chemist – R&D Silicones, you will develop and optimize silicone-based sealants and adhesives for a wide range of industrial applications, including construction, automotive, insulating glass, transportation, and renewable energy markets.

You will be responsible for formulation development, laboratory testing, and supporting the successful scale-up of new products from laboratory to commercial production.

Working in a cross-functional and international environment, you will play a key role in driving innovation, supporting customers, and delivering high-performance solutions that meet market and business needs.

  • Primary Responsibilities
  • Prepare and evaluate laboratory formulations.
  • Perform product testing and assess application suitability and performance requirements.
  • Support scale-up activities from laboratory development to manufacturing and commercial production.
  • Improve and maintain existing products throughout their lifecycle.
  • Evaluate and qualify new raw materials.
  • Define technical specifications, quality parameters, and inspection plans for raw materials and finished products.
  • Support the maintenance and organization of laboratory infrastructure, equipment, and test instruments to ensure efficient and safe R&D operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Purchasing, Quality, EHS, Product Management, Operations, Technical Service, and Sales.
  • Investigate and support the resolution of customer complaints and technical issues.
  • Prepare technical reports, maintain project documentation, and communicate development.
  • Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in Chemistry, or graduate engineer with chemical / process engineering orientation.
  • Strong understanding of chemistry, materials science, and product formulation principles.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical evaluation skills.
  • Ability to manage projects and formulation activities independently in a structured manner.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional and international teams.
  • Very good German and English communication skills, both written and spoken. Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Preferred Requirements
  • Experience in the formulation, development, or application of industrial adhesives and sealants.
  • Knowledge of laboratory testing methods, analytical techniques, and product performance evaluation.
  • Customer-facing experience and the ability to translate application requirements into technical solutions.
  • Proficiency with SAP S/4HANA.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
