For the division Electrochemical Energy Systems in Freiburg we are looking for
Scientific staff/PhD-Student for the Synthesis & Characterization of Ionomers for Fuel Cells - 80% (m/f/d)
Your tasks
- Organic Synthesis of PFAS-free ionomers
- Physicochemical characterization of newly developed molecules (NMR, FTIR, Raman, TGA, DSC, GPC/SEC, BET)
- Ionomer characterization (IEC, swelling behavior, and permeability)
- Investigation of structure-property relationships between polymer architecture and its properties
- Data handling of external measurements as NMR, FTIR, viscometry or GPC
- Integration and characterization of developed ionomers in electrochemical devices
- Publication of results in peer-reviewed journals
- Presentation at national and international conferences
- Co-supervision of Bachelor's and Master's students
- Close collaboration with academic and industrial project partners
The position is initially limited to 3 years.
Your Profile
- Master's degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field
- Hands-on experience in organic chemistry, preferably polymer synthesis and processing
- Familiarity with physicochemical characterization techniques (NMR, GPC, FTIR, Raman...)
- Creativity, high personal initiative, work independently and team oriented
- Good English skills
- Enjoying R&D lab work as well as coordinative tasks
- Well-structured and goal-oriented working style
