Network Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer to oversee and manage our Cisco and Palo Alto-based network environments, including LAN, WAN, and Wireless networks. The ideal candidate will collaborate with vendors, lead installation projects, and ensure optimal network performance and security.

1. Design, implement, and manage Cisco and Palo Alto network environments, including LAN, WAN, and Wireless networks.
2. Collaborate with vendors for platform integration and performance optimization.
3. Lead installation and expansion of network systems for new facilities, including testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.
4. Develop procedures for hardware and software integration, and propose strategies to maintain and improve service levels.
5. Monitor network performance, generate reports, and implement corrective measures.
6. Provide troubleshooting support during emergencies and outages.
7. Address network incidents promptly using management tools.
8. Test and upgrade network device software to ensure reliability.
9. Review capacity reports and identify improvement opportunities.
10. Advise on network migrations and security enhancements.
11. Coordinate with third-party vendors and telecom providers for incident resolution.
12. Maintain comprehensive network documentation.
13. Recommend improvements for network management tools and configurations.
14. Analyze report data for accuracy before submission.
15. Stay updated on vendor products and technological advancements.

Skills and Experience

• At least 5 years of experience in networking, with expertise in Cisco, Fortinet, and Palo Alto technologies.
• Experience working within ITIL frameworks, particularly Incident, Change, and Problem Management.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco and Fortinet environments, including Routing & SD-WAN, Switching, Wireless, Firewalls, and related tools.
• Proficiency in routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and VRRP.
• Experience with protocol analyzers like Wireshark.
• Strong documentation skills using MS Word and MS Visio.
• Knowledge of Meraki Wireless, Firewalls, SD-WAN, Cisco ACI, and enterprise products.
• Ability to interpret wireless site survey reports and optimize wireless settings.
• Relevant certifications such as Cisco CCNP/CCIE, Fortinet NSE 6+, F5, Meraki Certified Network Operator.
• Fluency in German.
• Familiarity with ITIL V3 best practices.
