Responsibilities
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements of Hapag-Lloyd AG in accordance with IFRS/HGB, including independently clarifying complex accounting and valuation issues
- Support of the regions’ decentralized accounting activities and the associated Areas (subsidiaries) with regard to intercompany transactions with Hapag-Lloyd AG
- Conceptual assurance and further development of accounting quality within the Hapag-Lloyd Group by defining, implementing, and monitoring standardized accounting guidelines and processes for the regions/areas as well as analysis of the figures provided and posted
- Responsibility for intercompany processes (reconciliation, charging/settlement, documentation) between Hapag-Lloyd AG and its subsidiaries as a basis for Group consolidation, as well as clarifying and resolving complex intercompany transactions including handling and optimizing intercompany billing
- Participation in risk monitoring of Hapag Lloyd’s third party agents (TPAs)
- Point of contact for accounting questions and SAP FI topics from the regions’/Areas’ finance departments and other central departments at headquarters (e.g., Group Accounting, Tax, Controlling), as well as for auditors’ queries
- Taking over projects to optimize, standardize, and automate accounting processes as part of the S/4 HANA transformation
- Analyzing and preparing complex ad-hoc queries from management
Qualifications
- Very strong theoretical knowledge of business administration, acquired through university/university of applied sciences studies, preferably with a focus on German GAAP (HGB) and international accounting (IFRS)
- Several years of relevant professional experience in the accounting function of an international company or at an audit firm
- Excellent analytical skills and a structured, goal-oriented way of working
- Above-average commitment and strong assertiveness
- High level of initiative and ability to work independently, but also enjoying teamwork and project-based work
- Written and spoken business-fluent English skills
- Solid, hands-on user knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint) and SAP FI
- Knowledge of the QlikSense analytics and reporting system is desirable
