Chief Financial Officer | Scaling Marketplace Business | Berlin with weekly International Travel

Harmonic Executive is delighted to be exclusively retained to find a Chief Financial Officer for a VC-backed, high-growth digital marketplace with annual revenue of more than €200m.

With a strong international footprint and its next phase of growth ahead, the business is looking for a finance leader who will help shape its direction alongside an experienced CEO, Board and investor group.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this is a broad and commercially minded role. The business operates across several markets, so the CFO will require regular international travel, with more detail shared at interview stage. You will sharpen decision-making through clear financial insight, rigorous planning and disciplined delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted partner to the CEO, Board and shareholders on the long-term strategy of the business.
• Own budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and scenario modelling to support confident decisions.
• Provide commercial insight on investment decisions, resource allocation and business performance.
• Lead and develop the finance team, with strong governance, reporting and operational discipline.
• Build management information and performance reporting that works for the executive team and the Board.
• Keep strengthening financial controls, systems and reporting across the group.
• Travel internationally each week to build relationships with regional leadership and keep the business aligned.

What We Need to See

The following are essential:

• Experience as a CFO or senior finance leader in a business generating €200m+ in revenue, with the financial and commercial complexity that comes with that scale.
• Direct experience in a SaaS, marketplace or two-sided digital platform business.
• Confidence engaging Boards, investors and executive teams, with strong stakeholder management skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally on a weekly basis.
• Experience in a global business, including exposure to international finance operations.
• Experience preparing a business for exit or IPO, with the credibility to engage investors and acquirers through a major value-creation event.

Package: Competitive salary, bonus and equity.

Location: Berlin, Germany (hybrid), with weekly international travel. Open to meeting candidates based in other European cities.
