Job Description Summary

The Engineering Head leads the Site Engineering organization, responsible for executing large and baseload projects, establishing, maintaining, and improving engineering processes related to buildings, equipment, utilities, and energy. Oversight includes commissioning, qualification, calibration, and maintenance of equipment, as well as managing the Capital Portfolio.

Job Description

Major accountabilities:

  1. Deliver the Germany establishment project on time, within budget, and scope.
  2. Execute project management and partnering strategies for the site, coordinating internal and external workforce, including equipment and facility vendors.
  3. Build project and operational engineering teams for the site.
  4. Create a culture of accountability within engineering and facilities teams, based on inspired, curious, unbossed principles, leading by example.
  5. As a member of the site leadership team, drive strategic decisions and develop a Site Master Plan with a 5-year outlook, including forecasted volumes, expenses, and Capex to support business needs.
  6. Recruit, train, and develop high-performing team members and maintain a robust succession plan.
  7. Lead engineers and project managers to prepare the site for commercial launch, including commissioning and qualification of rooms and equipment.
  8. Collaborate with the Site Quality Head and Head of Production to make decisions regarding batch disposition, investigations, changes, and CAPA.
  9. Utilize incident management, risk analyses, and other programs to improve quality, health, safety, and environmental performance.
  10. Implement a Computerized Maintenance Management System to facilitate cost-effective repair, maintenance, and calibration, preventing unplanned outages.
  11. Manage the capital investment budget and project portfolio after operations commence.

Essential requirements:

  • BSc degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Solid engineering experience in cGMP manufacturing with at least 5 years in sterile drug product manufacturing.
  • Leadership experience in an engineering and maintenance GMP plant, including facility design based on Lean principles, preferably in aseptic manufacturing and radiopharmaceutical processing.
  • Excellent knowledge of engineering standards in building, facilities, and equipment within the pharmaceutical industry, including construction project management.
  • Fluent in English and German.

Desirable requirements:

  • Training in radiochemistry or radiopharmacy.

Possible locations: Halle, Dresden, Leipzig.
