Associate HES Professor in Embedded Systems - Hardware
Within the Department of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), of its REDS Institute (Reconfigurable and Embedded Digital Systems), you will have the opportunity to contribute to the evolution of this institute, integrated into a team of passionate professors and scientists. Research projects focus on heterogeneous embedded systems, whether it be data processing on FPGA or GPU, SDR communication, data or transmission security, or autonomous vehicle management. Ranging from PCB design to software development, including digital systems and drivers, the institute possesses a broad spectrum of expertise within which you can develop your research activities. More specifically, within the framework of this position, the institute aims to strengthen its skills in board design and digital system design.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach engineering students at Bachelor and Master levels in the HES "Computer Science and Communication Systems (ISC)" programme, particularly in the fields of electronics (digital and analogue), digital signal processing (DSP) and logic systems - Supervise Bachelor and Master theses and develop continuing education courses - Develop and carry out applied research, development and service (Ra&D) activities in partnership with industrial and academic sectors in the field of communicating, autonomous, space and health-applied embedded systems - Submit funding applications to obtain third-party funds to develop your research (SNSF, Innosuisse, European funds, for example) - Contribute to the visibility and reputation of your institute and HEIG-VD in your field of expertise - Participate in the activities of HEIG-VD and HES-SO in your field of expertise
DESIRED PROFILE
- Master’s degree in computer science or electronics, PhD an asset - At least 5 years of professional experience, particularly in Ra&D projects in the fields of design and development of complex embedded solutions (FPGA, SoC, RF), hardware architecture of embedded systems, PCB design, VHDL and C programming - Ability to develop Ra&D project activities in collaboration with industry and academia, including securing funding and team management - Good knowledge of the regional, national and international industrial fabric - Strong industrial and academic network, ability to develop it and contribute to the institute’s visibility - Passion for pedagogy, training and scientific and technical teaching - Proficiency in English in addition to French
