About us
The West Hesse Police Headquarters in Wiesbaden is one of 7 regional police headquarters in Hesse with around 2,400 employees, responsible for the districts of Hochtaunus, Limburg-Weilburg, Main-Taunus, Rheingau-Taunus and the state capital of Wiesbaden as well as the federal highways that run through it.

Digital forensic scientist (m/f/d)
of pay group 12 TV-H available.

The scope of employment is 100%. Part-time employment is generally possible. Depending on personal qualifications, the position will be graded up to pay group 12 TV-H. Civil servant status is possible if the personal requirements are met.
Your tasks
If you can imagine helping to shape this responsible task, the following activities await you:
- Administration and further development of service-specific systems and network components within assigned organizational units
- Advice on technical equipment and installation of hardware and software
- Independent and autonomous digital forensic processing and evaluation of seized storage media and digital traces for police stations, public prosecutors\‘ offices and courts
- Preparation and documentation of the work steps as well as the data backup and evaluation results for court use and representation as an expert witness in court
- Advising the department on the interpretation and analysis of the results obtained and assessing necessary measures in investigation proceedings
- Advising and supporting police departments and law enforcement agencies in the planning and implementation of criminal proceedings (e.g. searches) with regard to IT and network technology
- Development of own and adaptation of existing software tools for the field of digital forensics
Our requirements
- Appropriate specialist knowledge in the field of digital forensics or computer science, acquired for example through university or technical college studies, relevant professional training and many years of relevant professional experience or self-acquired, certified specialist knowledge
- Knowledge in the field of practical computer science, computer architectures and common operating systems
- Good knowledge of Windows and Linux server systems
- Good knowledge of IT networks and the associated protocols
- Sound knowledge of the structure of mobile operating and file systems (e.g. Android and iOS)
- Very good knowledge of German, good knowledge of written and spoken English
- Ability to present complex issues concisely and comprehensibly in oral and written form
- Class B or class 3 (old) driving license
- Willingness to be on call and work outside normal working hours
Can be an advantage:
- Experience in working with digital forensic software (e.g. Cellebrite or Magnet Axiom)
- Good knowledge of common programming languages (e.g. Java, C++, Python, etc.), database systems (e.g. Oracle, MS SQL Server) and query languages (SQL) as well as their practical application
