The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf is inviting applications for the position of a

W2 professorship foran applied field of Psychology

as of October 1st, 2028.

We are seeking an internationally recognised academic who specialises in an applied field of psychology in both research and teaching, and whose research interests complement the Institute of Experimental Psychology. Relevant experience with quantitative, data-intensive or AI-based methods is desirable. A successful track record in acquiring competitive external funding, publications in prestigious international scientific journals, and aresearch profile compatible with the experimental focus of the Institute of Experimental Psychology are required.Furthermore, the potential for cooperation with researchers at the Institute as well as within and outside the faculty is required, also with respect to collaborative research projects. Experience in academic self-governance is desirable. The Institute of Experimental Psychology places great importance on the use of open science practices. Relevant experience and a research approach aligned with these practices are expected. Teaching experience and evidence of teaching skills are required, as is the ability to deliver courses in German.Concerning teaching, in both the Bachelor’s and Master’s programme in Psychology, modern, application-oriented psychological content and skills should be conveyed to the students.

Conditions for employment are, in addition to general administrative conditions in accordance with § 36 of the North Rhine-Westphalia University Act (Gesetz über die Hochschulen des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen), an aptitude for teaching, exceptional competence in research, and additional scientific achievements.
