This role centers on two core focus areas: developing embedded software on System-on-Module (SoM) platforms from various providers, and applying AI on embedded devices. You will work on consumer electronics, smart home, and smart devices built for mass production, with or without connectivity. /ppYou take embedded software from architecture to deployment, working closely with electronics and mechanical colleagues throughout. Concretely: /pulliContribute to embedded software architecture and design within multidisciplinary project teams /liliImplement firmware and software for microcontrollers and System-on-Modules (SoM) based consumer electronics products, across bare-metal and RTOS environments /liliWork with SoMs from various providers (e.g., Kontron, Toradex), including embedded Linux /liliIntegrate connectivity stacks (BLE, Wi-Fi, Zigbee/Thread) /liliApply AI on embedded platforms: deploy pre-trained models for on-device inference (edge AI / Ti-nyML), integrate vendor AI/NPU SDKs for features such as voice, gesture, or presence detection, and structure sensor data pipelines feeding AI or cloud systems /liliWrite and execute unit, integration, and system-level tests /liliDebug issues across the hardware/software boundary, perform root cause analysis /liliCollaborate directly with customer engineering teams as part of project delivery /liliWork independently on assigned projects, with mentorship from senior engineers /liliBSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field /liliMinimum three years of professional experience in embedded software development /liliStrong C/C++ programming skills on embedded systems /liliPractical experience with RTOS and/or bare-metal environments /liliExperience with embedded Linux (e.g., Yocto) on SoM platforms /liliExperience integrating connectivity stacks (e.g., BLE, Wi-Fi, Zigbee/Thread) /liliHands-on experience applying AI on embedded platforms /liliWork independently, open to mentorship from senior engineers /liliClear communicator across disciplines and with customers /liliCurious, adapts quickly to new technologies /liliFluent in English is required, German is a plus /li /ulpNice to have: /pullielectronics knowledge (analog/digital circuits, reading schematics) /liliknowledge of product compliance/safety standards (e.g., IEC 60335 or equivalent) /liliexperience with specific edge AI frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow) /liliexperience using LLM-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) in a development workflow /liliknowledge in RUST programming language /li /ulpInnovating a sustainable future!br/With this vision, Helbling Technik positioned as a long-term partner in the innovation network of the customer.
