You will play a key role within a medical device product development team in Bern, contributing across the entire development lifecycle; from initial specifications and concept creation through to detail design and transfer into manufacturing.
Role Description A Senior Project Engineer will design and develop mechanical and micromechanical solutions in close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Beyond generating innovative concepts, the engineer will advance ideas into mature designs by validating feasibility through prototyping and testing, engaging regularly with suppliers, and communicating technical progress to the project manager.
Specific Responsibilities
Participate in product development from design to implementation
Generate concepts for modules, complex systems and complete products in CAD, including detailed design of plastic and metal components, DFMEA, tolerance analysis, fundamental calculations and finite element analysis.
Design, source, and test prototypes, including development of test fixtures, test protocols, and report creation.
Contact and evaluate vendors and contractors, managing these relationships throughout the projects.
Monitor the status of all assignments and progress reports.
Develop assembly and inspection fixtures to test product performance.
Ensure that medical products are manufactured within specification and organize corrective actions.
Develop and implement production processes and define quality controls to meet the highest quality standards.
Professional Qualifications
Master’s degree in mechanical, microengineering or equivalent.
5+ years of experience in the development and industrialization of medical devices is required.
Experience with SolidWorks and/or Creo is required; FEA, COMSOL, Moldex3D are strong plus.
Experience with injection molded and metal components.
Technical experience in assembly processes is a plus.
