Core Facility Metabolomics and Proteomics at Helmholtz Munich offers cutting-edge mass spectrometry services to support research within Helmholtz and beyond. We are looking for a highly motivated staff scientist (f/m/x) with deep technological expertise in proteomics and a strong commitment to service-oriented work.
Your tasks
- Manage and coordinate proteomics projects, including experimental design, customer consultation, and reporting
- Operate and maintain state-of-the-art LC-MS/MS systems
- Supervise and support technical staff
- Drive the implementation and adaptation of new technologies and analytical workflows
Your profile
- PhD or Master\’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related scientific field
- Extensive hands‑on experience in proteomics (timsTOF and/or Astral), gained in a core facility, academic, or industrial setting
- Extensive practical and theoretical skills in all aspects of sample preparation (manual and automated)
- Expertise in qualitative and quantitative proteomics using advanced LC-MS/MS, including post‑translational modification analysis
- Experience with clinical samples (e.g. FFPE, plasma, CSF) or advanced proteomics workflows (e.g. spatial proteomics)
- Fluent with proteomics data analysis tools and data management; programming skills in R or Python highly desirable
- Service‑oriented mindset and ability to work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment
- Experience in supervising technical staff and supporting instrument maintenance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and German, with the ability to interact professionally with a broad scientific community
If you fulfill all the requirements, you may be eligible for a salary grade of up to E 13. Social benefits are based on the Collective Wage Agreement for Public‑Sector Employees (TVöD). The position has an (initial) fixed term until 15.08.2027 but may be extended under certain circumstances.
