The job
Become part of the dedicated team of the DFG Research Unit FOR 5064 Kili-SES 2. In the versatile role of coordinator, you will be the link between the research team and the administration.
The global loss of biodiversity and ecosystem services is mainly due to population growth, increasing demand for resources, and changes in land use and climate. A key challenge is therefore to develop sustainable relationships between humans and nature. This requires socio-ecological research that helps to understand the feedback loops between nature, human well-being, governance, and human influences. The “Kili-SES 2” research project on Kilimanjaro is dedicated to this task in a particularly suitable study region. The aim is to lay the foundations for political and social decisions that will enable a transformation towards sustainable human-nature relations on Kilimanjaro.

- Scientific-administrative project coordination of the DFG Kilimanjaro research group (Kili-SES 2nd phase)
- Function as central contact person and link within the research group between the research team and the administration
- Support in the preparation of administrative and scientific reports and proposals
- Preparation and follow-up of meetings, workshops, and events
- Regular reporting to the project management and collaboration in project progress communication
- Support with public relations work and dissemination of research results
We offer
- The chance to work in interdisciplinary, international teams and benefit from a variety of perspectives
- First-class integration into national and international research networks to work together on global challenges
- The opportunity to make a significant contribution to shaping a diverse and sustainable future together
- An exciting, secure workplace with varied tasks
- A comprehensive and high-quality programme for qualification and further education
- Flexible working hours and a wide range of options for balancing care responsibilities and work through our family office
- Competent support and advice for international colleagues arriving at the UFZ from the ‚International Office‘
- Special annual payment, capital-forming benefits, and subsidised Germany Job Ticket
- A workplace in a vibrant region with a high life quality and social and cultural diversity
Your profile
- A successfully completed degree in biosciences, geography, or social ecology or a related discipline (M.Sc. / Diploma)
- Experience in administrative coordination and project management of scientific projects
- Experience in budget planning and monitoring of project expenditure
- Experience of working in non-European countries, intercultural competence
- Very good IT skills, especially in the use of common MS Office programs
